A Warrior's Way of Adventuring with God
A Message from Scot Conway I wrote this, but a computer glitch dumped the file before it was uploaded. I'll rework it later. Meanwhile, here's a copy of the paper that got me in a lot of trouble, but it will reveal a great deal of how I think. Short version: I think Christians should be able to handle normal life. A man who works at a place with gorgeous women should be able to do his job day by day without a problem - only needing to get some distance to avoid unusual temptations. Joseph may have fled from Potiphar's wife on the day she nearly had him, but he worked there without a problem every day until then. It only got "too hot to handle" once. That's when he knew he had to get out of there! Harry Potter, Star Wars, Matrix, Dungeons and Dragons, Pokemon, Disney and even DaVinci Codes should be no threat to the faith of a Warrior Christian. We love a good conflict! It is when our side is challenged that we really look at our position and learn more about our own side. (James 1:2 for being "whole and complete, lacking in nothing.") If we can't handle it ourselves, we gather our team and tackle it together. We check with our Sensei, our CO, our Commander in Chief - and we get answers and training to win. We don't run. We don't hide. We are in the thick of battle - and we WIN. We are the Christians who love "The Gates of Hell will not prevail." We love that because it means WE are taking ground - WE are attacking the gates. We love being "more than conquerors," being able to "do all things" knowing that "greater is He that is in us." We like "Resist the Devil and he must flee." If ethical, faithful people were in charge of Enron, running the company with great ethics, morality and righteousness, the company would not have fallen - and rewards and advancement would have been based on righteous success, not just financial success. True, the company would not have been as "successful" on the surface, but the success would have been real, not the illusion they had created. Often, the Church tends toward traditionally feminine values rather than masculine values. In centuries past, this was not the case. Young men and women ages 18-35 don't like this seemingly wimpy faith. The answer always seems to be "stay away from..." which just sounds like hiding to a lot of people. Why are we hiding? Why aren't we leading? Sure, some of us will complain - even protest - but what do we DO? Why aren't we in charge making sure things are done right? Rather than hide, follow and complain, why don't we take over and do it right? If these ideas sound like the kind of Christianity you want to be part of - some to the Leadership Course. Email me. Get in touch one way or another - and join us for the adventure! Blessings - Scot Conway |
